THE
INFRASTRUCTURE AND TECHNICAL STUFF: A
Bicycle with .. Wings??!
To reiterate from the technical standpoint, the original idea was to create an ultimate, nexus-type resource
site for educational, informational, networking, support, and
research purposes in the form of a complex of extensive online
communities or subwebs, of which there are currently five.
The five themes below describe this infrastructure.
If this was a bicycle I was manufacturing for you, from creating the initial design and the molds for all the
pieces, adding paint and chrome plating, doing some basic assembly of
the more sophisticated parts like gears and lights and spoked
wheels/tires, adding a bit of instruction for what remains to be done,
and putting all this in a box to ship to you, who would then
do the final assembly, metaphorically, we are at the stage where you
have just opened the box! All that's left for those of you who
will help make this happen is whipping out the wrenches and screwdrivers
and putting all the big pieces together, doing a bit of testing to
make sure everything is solid and works, and then it's off to a life of
many great rides! So, here is what you can see of the pieces in the 'box' before you:

This
introductory information -- the overall design and intention -- you are now reading about
on this site, [ahhh-thelight.com], about the said
'bicycle',
wHeretwoworldsTouch.com. Also, see the ..

in
the table below.

The
basic architecture of the five-subwebs at the URL, www.wHeretwoworldsTouch.com
[or wHe..]--
you'll recognize the shape and intention of what is to be the
finally assembled bike. This is essentially built and ready to
be filled with data and many other types and forms of materials and
interactive features, such as blogs, visual and audio types of
programs like radio shows, movies, music, ebooks -- yet to be added. [This
is accessible with the gold column in the table toward the bottom of
the page.]

The
thematic content that brings it all together into a fully
recognizable bicycle, which is the final round of assembly that needs
to take place. Before wHe..,
as it is now, was built, I began creating a content site that was
never published to the web. I had no technical skill, only the
drivenness to make this a reality. Nor did I have any funds or
support, just this vision that took over my life and dreams.
This began to take shape as a FrontPage web structure, including a
fair amount of content.
With the help of an inheritance not
long ago, I suddenly had funding, I thought, finally to pay others
who knew what they were doing to take care of the technical
building. What you currently see on wHe.. is as far as that
got. But it was a BIG step in the right direction!
One
consequence of others building the architecture on wHe.. is that I stopped adding and editing material on the unpublished
web. So you will see that is anything but finished,
and in fact a great deal of it has been edited or rewritten
since. I have made that content material available [see Gateway..
below] so you can get a feel for how this flows and begins to
come together. [You can also access these pages
individually through the
pink column in the table below.]

A
general development plan for each subweb is highlighted in the soft ....
. column of the table toward the bottom of the page. Each
one gives a breakdown of kinds of organizational and technical
aspects that need to be addressed to complete that particular subweb
to have it up and running, fully formed, as the plans go so far.
You can also see an outline menu for each by clicking the green
text
to the left in the table below.

Most of the actual and updated content you will not be able to see
yet, including all the database materials. This is what is
to be edited and transferred to the site from my computer and a
truckload of CDs and even floppies, since some of this dream project
goes back to that era. This comprises the final 'pieces' yet
to be assembled, along with most of the soft interface features already
mentioned, like the programmatic interactive options and input for the
databases. Of course the visitors themselves will become a major
contributing force to the content, since the point of all this is to be a
jump-start for several very interactive communities.
In short, here's where all the wrenches and screwdrivers, air pump and
other get-it-finished stuff come in on the 'other side of the box',
where all the additional help appears that will become the pedal-power
and wind that
will make this thing 'fly'! Oh, did I mention -- this is a
bicycle with WINNNGS!! And necessarily so, considering the topic
or where we're
going. As you can see from the Mission
Statement and other content descriptions, merely feet- [or treads]-on-the-ground is totally inadequate for this
baby! So get your Eddie-Rickenbacker goggles and favorite
silk/cotton scarf on [scratchy wool is definitely out], those of you who
are recognizing this may be your baby, too. It's time to ki...
.. [are we on the air yet? .. oooookay..!]
So! The last lines of this are left to your fertile imagination --
powers that be are giving me the flashy but crude finger-zip-across-the-throat signal.
THE
SUBWEBS: "FIVE EASY PIECES"
Each of the
following subject areas will take you to its own
introductory page
of nuts-and-bolts information. Note, by the way, though it's hardly mentioned
anywhere, blogging, along with other interactive technologies and
multimedia options, will eventually become a major conduit for much that
will develop on each of the subwebs. Avidly engaged community is
the primary objective in all cases.
