Students of Death-Transcendent Exceptional Human Experiences
ABOUT THIS
FEATURE
Just to allay any possible confusion,
"students" may be part of the formal academic community, such as
psychologists or whoever who focus on what many would consider to be things-parapsychological
or transcendently psychological and so forth. Or, they may not
be. To my mind, and for the purposes of wtwT, they can be truly anyone
who pursues this topic (in the broadest sense). You know, many of us have
"hobbies" that are not the basis for our money-generating careers. But
they are a thrilling, driving force in our lives, one of the main reasons we
bounce out of bed every morning, excited about what we are doing with our lives.
There are card-carrying parapsychologists who are not really students in this
sense at all!
A personal bias concerning this idea of
"student" is that it should be tied to the quest for direct experience, since
direct, personal experience of the EHE variety is the primary fulcrum for all
things EHE-related on wtwT. By this, however, I don't mean that to be a
REAL student who [therefore] has something of value to offer here, one must be,
ah, experienced. Gaining experience comes with the territory of being a
student, and some of us are drawn to study something simply because we want
experience or experiences.
More to the point, students of
death-transcendent EHEs, again, for the purposes of wtwT, are usually people
whose interest is so strong, they would call this a vocation, a calling,
regardless of whether or not they also are using this interest as a vehicle for
generating an income. For example, I would not be recognized as a member
of academia; I am not degreed in any way that is affiliated with this work -- or
rather, this passion. Which brings up another point: for students of
this vast subject area, even those who make a living at it, this is not just
work or a job; it is a passion, an unreasoning compulsion, THE carrot on the
other end of the stick! For many of us, I dare say by rather "normal"
standards (whatever that means), this interest is hardly short of pathological.
We are obsessed -- and happily so!
One of the big reasons
wHeretwoworldsTouch.com was built was to make the point that
it's not "the piece of paper" (the degree) that therefore
makes one a professional and fully pedigreed or whatever (hmmm....
there's a joke here somewhere) that denotes
hir knowledge
as worthy of respect. No. It is one's
experience, one's sense of calling, one's passion. A student is someone
who is willing to open
hirself up to new experiences, to be open to learning, wherever that
may lead, and takes it for granted that there is always still more to learn, to
experience. There is an attitude that goes with this vocation as student
which is the humble certainty that, since we don't claim to have all the answers
or even a lot of them, we are always on the outside edge of the learning curve,
wide-open, and therefore more accessible to the infinite diversity of what life
may have to teach us through direct experience. This has
been further emphasized on wtwT in the biggest way I could imagine to conjure
up, in that I perceive the very heart of this web complex to be the
Death-Transcendent Cooperative Inquiry Initiative (DT-CII).
DT-CII is a membership web devoted
to the collaborative and systematic study of the deliberate cultivation of
death-transcendent exceptional human experiences. The approach taken here
has been astutely, even exquisitely presented by John Heron, and his ideas have
been co-opted as the basis for exploration that is used. His whole premise
is that such experiences can be approached with scientific rigor and he calls
this spiritual science. If this beckons to you, a click takes you there:

Cooperative Inquiry Initiative.
In the meantime, I hope you discover some
highly informative inspiration reading the stories of those who enjoy a gifted
delight in the exploration of DT-EHEs, the Students of Death-Transcendent Exceptional Human Experiences.
