About the Quotes Archive
These quotes come from the widest possible selection of
sources. What they all have in common is the broad subject of
death-transcendent Exceptional Human Experiences [d-t EHEs] -- by whatever name
or description. They may be about such experiences themselves, about how
they affect us, about their nature and impact on the world-at-large. Not
only is there no order to these quotes, but there is a purposeful disorder,
because they tend to stand out better, one by one, as fresh and potentially
impactful under these conditions.
If you have a favorite quote you feel would be
appropriate for wHeretwoworldsTouch,
send it to
us, and with out thanks!
And here they are -- the
quotes:
(I)t is not productive to study a psychic or mystical
experience without taking into consideration the interpersonal, familial,
societal, and cultural factors in which the experiencer and the experience are
embedded. It is very exciting to be alive and delving into these
experiences that themselves can connect us with the universe and with our own
deepest selves. This is what we sorely need not only to enrich our
personal lives but to rejuvenate our society and to help save our planet from
the ravages of supertechnology.

Traditional spiritual disciplines, of course, teach
methods of deepening consciousness, but they need to be freed from their
specifically religious contexts so that they can be used by anyone. What
the 21st century requires is an approach that is open to and speaks to the needs
of everyone -- in whatever life situation they may be in and in whatever
everyday state of consciousness they find themselves.

I believe the NDE is one of those puzzles that just
might force scientists to develop a new scientific method, one that will
incorporate all sources of knowledge, not only logical dedications of the
intellect, and empirical observations of the physical, but a direct experience
of the mystical as well.

science explain the near-death experience?" Journal of
Near-Death Studies, v. 8]
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
(I)f the experiencer is left with
a feeling that there is meaning hidden somewhere in the experience [EE, EHE], it
is worth taking the time and trouble to try to draw out that meaning and see
where it leads, even if it is not possible to rule out all counterhypotheses.
We think it is likely that the basic meanings
revealed by these experiences, once they become potentiated into EHEs, is the
key to the evolution of consciousness and also to saving planet Earth because of
the types of changed consciousness that are associated with EHEs."
