The fine Art of UNDISMAYING
You know how it is; you set out to practice a little peace --
meditating, praying, being Still, and then off you go on some wild jabbberwok
adventure instead. You get down on yourself, muttering all sorts of inanities,
grab on to some old favorite scathing assessment of someone or something, or
just fall into the fog of not-asleep-not-awake-either, or maybe you're just
antsy or get sucked into a fantastical inner replay of your favorite movie or
the phone rings and without thinking, you answer it.
AaaaaaaAaaaaaaaAaaaAaaaaaaaaand you're off on another merry chase! Then
something jerks you to a stop inside; x#$@,--! *&^!!!!
......... you grooooooooooan! .......... you sighhhhhhhhhhh! You mutter
some more. Your whole body lists and rolls like a ship in a storm at sea.
YOU are in the throes of dismay.
Yes, you started out with the fine intention of meditating,
or zazen or prayer or whichever, and yes, this is at least the umteenth time you
have let yourself get diverted in the last 3 minutes. So how can you get a grip
on this, you wonder???
Sometimes perspective is everything. [[PICTURE OF FISH
