Sri Aurobindo,
The Mother, and Mother Meera
[Their
"Agenda," "The Great Experiment," and this Adventure in Consciousness]
Sri
Aurobindo Ghose and "The Mother" [Mirra Alfasa. See Wayne
Bloomquist; also see Satprem], also
collectively share the same uniquely and mutually defined task, to bring into
the material world the active presence of a most extraordinary
"LIGHT." It's a bit of a convoluted and, again, unique story
that is possibly the most extraordinary [and very possibly, most crucial]
discovery and work that is unfolding silently in our midst and within our very
beings. No matter your beliefs, it is well worth the time and effort to
become familiar with their "adventure in consciousness."
A special place is made for the work of these three very under-known and not
well-understood people in the West. Actually, Mother Meera is fairly well
known in the West and resides in Germany. But the first two people are too
quickly stereotyped as Indian "gurus," as if that says everything that
is important, and dismissed. For many years that was exactly what I
did. Because they had passed from this world by the time I had heard of
them and their writings or materials about them are rarely seen in the USA, I
just never stopped to look into their lives further. All I knew was they
had created what I thought of as something remotely similar to Findhorn, an
intentional spiritual community in Scotland [pigeon-holes right and left].
Stereotyped, stamped and thrown in an empty file drawer of the brain for
decades. That all changed when I tripped across the book, Sri Aurobindo or
the Adventure in Consciousness in 2007.
No matter how you look at them, they are absolutely anything but
"stereotypic" of anything you have every come across about human
beings. The traceable, even historic biographies of Sri Aurobindo and The
Mother, in no small part chronicled by Satprem, indicates they were physically
incarnate spiritual companions who lived from the 1870s to [respectively] 1950
and 1973. I leave it to you to do your own exploring about their
lives and life agendas. Here, I will just say each of these people
appear to be on the same experiential trail, working toward the same concerted
purpose, which is "a divine rehabilitation of Matter," and which takes
us into what may be the
greatest adventure and mystery of our Age, or indeed of any remotely recent
Age. For because of their decades of well-recognized and documented inner
journeying, they are saying to us,
"We
are not at the end of a civilization.
We
are at the Time when Man is to be born."
I hope those who have long worked within their circle of familiars, and yes,
followers, will come forward to participate in this effort to understand and
perhaps even contribute to their own work and hopes for humankind and the
planet.

Experiment of Sri Aurobindo and The Mother. Not everyone is
clearly spiritually oriented or inclined, and we must accept this as
part of our culture. But we
must also accept that many are, and there are certain things that we
can pursue together that cross all religious boundaries, such as for
most, the idea of an original Creatrix, a Supreme Intelligence --
not "an entity" but a "Consciousness-Force" out
