Celebration!
Ma Pacific never looked more beautiful than that magical,
hauntingly memorable evening. Between conversations, and
seeking the respite of just being STILL inside for a few
minutes, I stepped out on a balcony to enjoy another MAGIC as old as
time. The late twilight glow of soft lingering rose,
purpling into midnight blue, cradled the thin sliver of
a new moon resting close to the bosom of Earth. A few
stars hung out like old friends on the front porch of life
before bed. Salt fragranced the cooling
breath of the approaching night.
The party was fully in swing to celebrate the official
launching of wHeretwoworldsTouch.com. Many of the GBN
staff and friends were gathered just inside the patinaed
French doors. The light and happy talk and laughter
warmed my back like an enfolding comforter.
Peering out into this specially Good Night, suddenly a flash
of familiar words found me, spoken from within so clearly they
hung like a symphonic melody in the air:
It
is fulfilled:
She
had a vision. We helped her get her site.
It is fulfilled!!
How easy it is to forget! Instantly I
am in this other place that has for sometime been worlds
removed, cushioned now by a very other life filled with
everything of which that 'previous existence' was bereft, most
of all, the understanding and camaraderie of those who share
your most cherished hopes and dreams and the quality and depth
of friendship and passion in flow with LIFE-writ-large that
comes with that. From a thin-ice past I have been so
grateful to leave behind comes the memory of the tender,
intrepid rebirth of FAITH [in the promise of things yet
unseen; faith in "the truth of tomorrow, inevitable,
which must necessarily come, which nothing, nobody, no bad
will, even that of Nature, can prevent from becoming a
reality." (~~The Mother)].
Is it the nature of Faith always to suffer the dangers of
birth fraught with the terrible pains of soul-threatening
doubt and loss of all hope? It was
a
desperate DARK of a time in which I found myself hanging over
the abyss of utter despair. I couldn't not pursue this
one 'impossible dream' I was inescapably [and happily!] bound
to, but the price paid was almost everything else that most
people enjoy as "normal" and that makes life at
least more
tolerable during times when it's not all we wish it could
be. Those things that fluff it out with picture-book
memories of family, friends, a career, the pleasure of being
within the loving fold of Community with lots in common.
But there are other possibilities that call
us sometimes that appear to be more austere, recognized by
many visionaries, the imaginal glimpses of Something More, especially the
Something Mores we dare to hope can make a difference. I
am one who dares to hope, and I hug to me now all the
challenge and hardship that paved the way to this
moment.
In this gentle Good Night, memories of other such Gifts come
to visit, like dear friends, during this time of
celebration. They too in the dark of that Soul-birthing
Night fed me like Manna. . . They fill me now with
humble gratitude and awe and continue
to remind me that we are all constantly conversant -- if we
but knew! I repeat: If we but knew! -- with a LOVE
infinite, eternal, omnipresent enough to create whole
universes like this one and yet, so casually and everyday,
that walks with us hand-in-hand to experience the unspeakable
Gifting of the ALL THAT IS LIFE. Perhaps the bottom line
is that without the contrasts, the ups and downs, the lefts
and rights, the abyss as well as the mountaintop, how could we
otherwise have any conceivable idea of the meaning and
influence, the power and limitless worth of faith? Faith
is always necessarily the Great Gifting of the dark night of
the Soul.
Here are some of those treasures, the Manna ...
