There is a vast forward motion already in play to fulfill
this collective purpose. But as yet, like loose lightning,
it has not found the channel to ground it.
wHeretwoworldsTouch.com will be a major initiating and
supportive conduit for this Global
Consciousness Shift Movement, and surely the
first to give it such a collected Voice. My intention now is to
seek out and work with those who are motivated to help facilitate this process in a big way.

Meet
our midwife, the internet!
Regarding this birthing process, it is worth noting the
incalculable power of the World Wide Web today, which
is proving to be one of our greatest instruments effecting fairly rapid sea changes.
President Obama's astounding campaign, largely a product of the
internet, speaks gigobytes! To this
effect, James O'Dea, President of the Institute of Noetic
Sciences, remarks,
“As the world continues to shrink we are beginning to
understand that we are relational beings who generate meaning
together. The new frontier of social transformation is one in
which both scientific and spiritual worldviews meet in
confirming the charged, creative and generative nature of
great masses of individuals communing together and creating
webs of meaning and networks of influence. The World Wide Web
is both a vehicle and a symbol for this sea change in human
consciousness. … [I]t is demonstrating a resilient capacity
to be a global commons where a great multiplicity and
diversity of voices can be heard. People are participating in
a global conversation as never before. …
The shift in awareness from being spectators of a
collective human drama which is primarily influenced by
superstars in the political, intellectual and religious
spheres to one in which each of us begins to recognize
ourselves as participants and even as ‘players’ is indeed
a very significant one.”
In
the same article, O'Dea states,
“There may be hope for an evolutionary shift in
consciousness that will both heal and transform our
relationship to the past. It is a shift that requires humility
and an exploration of the science of being itself.”

Ray and Sherry Ruth Anderson's [2000] information
here is a bit dated, you will see, but again, speaks to the
power of this instrument, the internet, within the context of social transformation, as
well:

enabled] to see each other's faces and hear
our voices over the Internet, not just send text and still
pictures, increases the...] quality of personal relationships on the Internet
... because a much more nuanced personal connection [is]
possible.
The Internet's potential for global integration is remarkable.
... Direct
person-to-person connections among ordinary people take the
authorities and the experts out of the place of control.
The consequences are just barely imaginable. ...
When all of humanity regards all the rest of humanity
as real human beings, not as dangerous Others or faceless
ciphers, then the next era will have begun.
If we add connectivity to the spread of conflict
negotiation skills and solutions for health and ecology, then
vast inequalities and old enmities will be harder and harder
to maintain.

the internet, and creative destiny:
As you can imagine, the following comments were affirming and
exciting to discover (6/07) after years of this being the
objective for building these two web projects. This is now
a bit dated, but the point is on the mark in regards to what is to become
wHeretwoworldsTouch.com. If anything the need is more
urgent today, and the promise of what good can result is
similarly palpably more present now as well. Ray and
Anderson continue:
What might this
connectivity look like in the near future?
Imagine a Web portal that is an online community and
also a business. It
gives seminars and workshops and scans the World Wide Web for
information to share. It
also has a business district, with a variety of e-commerce
"stores" that share the values and worldview of the
community. To make
money, the business must give away information, services and
support to anyone who enters the Web portal, as well as to
their customers. It's
worth it, because the "stores" are hoping to buy the
loyalty of their community members.
Is this scenario a business or a community, profit or
not-for-profit, self-interested or altruistic?
It is all of these.
The old distinctions are breaking down--again.
[Since their publication date of 2000, this has mushroomed to
dazzling, multi-media proportions, even including] ... several print
magazines and cable channels as well.
All are designed with the Cultural Creatives in mind.
And all of them want to promote both community and
commerce and support the kind of changes introduced by the
social and consciousness movements.
... Building
a community from an electronic base will not replace
face-to-face community, but it could go a long way toward
making the Cultural Creatives aware of one another.
If the Cultural Creatives of the future form real online
communities, then a new politics cannot be far behind.
And perhaps an education movement.
What else can you imagine?
What else, indeed!
In
fact it only just occurs to me, their prediction about "a
new politics" could well describe what just occurred these
several years later in the form of President Obama's
internet-run campaign.
