3. Living the Awakened Life

Briefly:  The LAL celebrates and nurtures the understanding that those who feel a thrill of recognition and resonance with the defining traits associated with [especially Core] Cultural Creatives and/or EHEers are indeed a substantial Movement, a population of who-knows-how-many millions of people in the USA alone, and many times more than this in the world as a whole.  This subweb focuses on what these people tend to have in common, how their values and interests reflect in their usually deeply thought-out, highly individualistic ways of living and being in the world, their passionate commitment to global sustainability, and reverence for all life.  I like to think of the LAL as the 'Alternative AARP'! The main subject areas follow:

  •

Together, we are an Awakening Global Movement, a living, breathing Presence, which is what the LAL is all about, so we can find and recognize ourselves/each other in this context and find ways to support each other and co-create the sustainable world and quality of life that by right belongs to every living being.  This Idea will become a bloggerly conversation that has the potential to unleash a level of collaborative creativity that will make its own mark in the world.   Maybe one day, for some truly wonderful successes we will be able to feel the delight or their having originated here.

  •

Chronicles of the Awakened Life:  Their stories [EHEers and Core CCs] -- about their transformative events, especially in terms of what was before and what came after the consciousness shift that has come to define them and their lives.  This can be created and accessed as a page with all the requisite questions and fill-in boxes.  These will be published after being reviewed by our staff.

  •

EHEers Making a Positive Difference: Bios of people whose lives reflect the kind of consciousness shift wHe is about.  Most will be hirstorical figures; some will be our postmodern contemporaries.

  •

Activist Organizations:  About, listings, reviews, successes.

A.

Similar to Products/Services, these are first approved by the wHe/AtL staff and board.  But once they are up, they are subject to reviews by our clientele.  We will implement some process by which this is maintained with care.  Again, much as with our products/services, I want this to become a reliable reference resource about and for these organizations.

B.

This will be orchestrated to become a mega-organization that will keep people informed not only about the individual causes and what they can do to help in each instance, but also will be set up with the agreement that we can and will help each other, multiplying our support and mutual awareness of issues and needs.  We can have some kind of flag system to give everyone the heads-up when there is some crisis needing attention or a legislative vote about to be made that needs petitions signed or timely funding [e.g., Katrina] or even recruits for various projects like medical staff volunteers to meet disaster situations.

C.

Where the usual activist activity is focused on putting out fires or stopping them before they get started [such as "B" above], I believe we can become PRO-active in highly effective ways with a kind of "code-red" signaling system that instantly pulls support from all the other organizational memberships, acting as a meta-organization, together, that we have never been able to do as individuals or single organizations.  The LAL could be a most exciting center for new and even more powerful ways toward achieving our aspirations and goals together!

  •

Our Personal Health, re:  the latest brush fires.  Not all that looks well and good in terms of the products or foods or your local water situation or what our homes and furnishings are made of is indeed what we take it to be, even when it says 'organic' or 'kosher' or certified this or that.   This subset of the Activist part of the site addresses that blind spot with information and ways we can actively utilize to overcome this challenging situation.  And here's a prime example concerning fluoride in our water, toothpastes, teas, pesticides, some prominent medications.

We can set up our own letter-writing campaigns, petitions, boycotts and other means for correcting / improving this beyond simply being better informed.  [Maybe we can do something  similar about our collective healthcare concerns!]

  •

Become an LAL Co-op Member:  our own buyers' club.  You do not have to be a co-op member to purchase what's here, but membership will mean being privileged with reduced costs and specials not available to non-members.

  •

LAL-approved Products and Services:  These are first approved by the wHe/AtL staff and board.  But once they are online on the site, products and services are subject to reviews by our clientele.  We will implement some process by which this is maintained with studied care.  I want this to become a veritable "good-housekeeping seal of [our unified] approval," recognized far and wide, and utilizing our own independent lab tests and whatever else it takes to accomplish this to our collective satisfaction.  Incidentally, you know how various powers that be continually try to twist and abuse the 'certified organic' [and 'kosher'!] definition to include the weirdest things, as if to destroy any meaning that term might have for us.  Since our system of consumer strength activism is not fettered by the bureaucratic and legalized constraints [or lack thereof, depending on how you read this] the organic and antithetical industries are saddled with, we as a unified entity, comprised of large numbers of consumers, will not have to deal with that ridiculous buffoonery, not to mention the COST of such assaults.  The system is simplicity itself:  an elegantly organized and huge, united consumer constituency, easily and almost instantly mobilized for action, that can have a LOT of influence.  If providers are unwilling to give us what we want, such as what we should be able expect as genuine organic food, then we as a precedent-setting, large, and well-informed consumer meta-organization will find or create other ways to get our needs met.  And safer, more trustworthy destinations for our collective dollars.

  •

Green and Fair-Trade Products and Services:  About, listings, reviews [including warnings, such as a 'code red' list for products and services to avoid or boycott].

  •

Social Investing:  A nexus for many great organizations, ideas and people to find each other and do their magic together!  One important aspect of this is, we will ourselves as an "investors' club" [by whatever label or name] establish our own investment projects.  An example given is that of Elisabet Sahtouris and the incredible Andean Project that is able to produce as much as 16 times the amount of [organic] food grown using standard organic practices!

[Dedicated to this sacred Earth and to our great Awakening!]

Revenue Stream/s

  •

Affiliate program/reseller sources will be a 'presence' comprising most of the hundreds / thousands of options to be found here.

  •

Services, products offered for sale from the membership subwebs [ESC, DTCII].

  •

Our own co-op / membership-type networks directly sourced in the purchasing / support power and infrastructure of the LAL.  Also, by the way, we can find a number of creative ways through which we can funnel buying dollars into people's favorite causes.

  •

The LAL is a magnetic, galvanizing, organizing meta-agency intended to become a mutually aware and empowering association for making a huge difference in many socio-economic dimensions.   The LAL as a whole could become the organizational nexus of a virtual "alternative AARP" where Green and Social concerns find their collective voice at last and in a whole new, quantum-leap way.  Imagine the Cultural Creatives and EHEers/Empaths organizing to become one of the most powerful lobbying organizations, not only in the USA, but in the world.  We have discovered how to put our power to work on the internet through various petition and informational sites [e.g., Ben Cohen's TrueMajority, social justice, health and organic, and political watchdogs].  These are single agencies, and there are thousands!!--I dare say, several hundred of which are well known.  But what if we had ONE place [think amazon.com for books, google.com for search, wHeretwoworldsTouch.com/.org for activist and consumer interests].  It's not that these individual organizations / agencies would be subsumed here, by the way, anymore than all the many publishers have been somehow diminished in their being represented on amazon.com.  How about for organizing that longed-for, mythological political "3rd party"?!  This could be one direct avenue toward that level of fulfillment.  We just need a conceptual framework --- BIG ENOUGH --- a convergent context within which to bring us into mutual acknowledgement, regard, and connectivity toward this breadth of manifest intention.

  •

Social investment:

1.

A Social investment network will offer a whole other order of connecting people, ideas, and resources.  First, this part of the LAL will contain options already familiar to investors, including social investment clubs / memberships sourced within this website.

2.

There will also be a wHeretwoworldsTouch-dedicated membership that seeks out outstanding, even revolutionary projects.  These will be opportunities that will become mutually supportive in a big way and would be given high profile throughout the site for their excellent, exciting work.  These projects in their own various ways will, as much through the networking magic as anything else, attract much attention to wHe../AtL [wHeretwoworldsTouch / Ahhh-theLight].  But we will also actively solicit their personal networking and talents in support of wHe.., which I am confident they will enjoy doing as much as we will in honoring and supporting their work.  In both cases mentioned below, we could host special programs [they as our guests] -- audio / visual interviews, live online or call-in talks [pay-per-views? discounts for members?] that will also allow for questions and answers with viewers. These can be produced in different forms for people to view or purchase, including transcriptions to download.  Also in such cases, there would be products for sale [and various memberships would usually be provided special offers / discounts / opportunities].  Or our own co-op network may also carry their food and other products.  On the other hand, the projects we would pick would in part be chosen on the basis of their very promising work on the order of some of the most significant such enterprises on the planet which we would naturally want to give every support!  Here are two such possibilities:

A.

Elisabet Sahtouris and the Andean Project:  E. Sahtouris describes an agricultural venture sourced in Pre-Inca [Organic] practices now underway in Bolivia/Peru proving to be up to 16 times more productive than 'classic' green revolution organics!

B.

Mellen Thomas Benedict IS himself a most promising, also very exciting "social investment" of many proportions and dimensions.  Here's his story.

Development Plans

This may not be exhaustive, but it will give you an indication of the kinds of material and activity we will be offering and what kinds of technical, administrative, and other assistance will be required to bring this into being.

STATIC

  • About LAL; articles, various means for discussion of EHEerly values, trends, and lifestyles.

  • Lists [e.g., links] = database-driven, probably.  Needs a very efficient system for keeping links updated on daily basis.

  • Specific static options:  Dedication; Site Map; introductory materials.

  • These will be linked to interactives and/or  databases:   Introductory pages to each section [e.g., products/services; reviews; activist/organizational links].

INTERACTIVE

  • Audio and/or visual technologies:  interviews with just you-me folks telling their EHE stories and how these have influenced their lives in all respects.

  • Programs about everything EHEerly -- the impact and promise of this phenomenon on individuals; networks;  lifestyle, values, trends; global impact; creativity; inspired solutions to challenges; transforming the world one experience and one person at a time; special programs sponsored by ESC, DTCII.

  • Widest access to be provided through all the dominant technologies [e.g., palm pilots, radio, etc.].

  • Blog/s.

  • Email [including admin emails and onsite contact pages].

  • Movies:  anything to do with EHEerly lifestyle, transformation, especially if [auto]biographical.

  • Regular or special events:  talk shows, interviews, question/answer on special topics with special guest expert.  Examples: interviews with those EHEers who offer services, products, service organizations -- is there a relationship between their EHEs and their lifestyles and what they now devote their time and passion to [what they offer the world]; what their priorities in life are now that are different from before their EHEs.

  • Conferencing, such as to support / facilitate / bring to our site special interests, such as  EHE Study Groups, which will sourced largely out of this and the LLR subwebs.

  • Surveys:  all things EHE, specifically having to do with lifestyle trends -- could be some rich material here for the LLR, ESC, DTCII also.

DATABASES

  • Activist and other interests that support and are supported by EHEerly lifestyle trends, values.

  • Growing collection of EHE stories and autobiographies.

  • Products & services that support and are supported by EHEerly ideologies and interests.

  • Reviews of products, services; also of service / activist organizations.

  • Music.

  • Special challenge:  how do we allow for a lot of input from the client side, such as links, EHE autobiographies and stories, also reviews with clean efficiency, yet complete bottom-line control for what gets seen on the site? Factoring in client reviews, feedback should be utilized as a plus.  This could so easily get out of control without the right setup at the beginning.

MEMBERSHIPS, GROUPS [special databases to keep current about members, processing applications and money and other data, information this will require]

  • EHE Study Groups -- probably to be offered through meetups.com or something similar.  This is to take place on a local basis, but we may sponsor special events and conferences if enough interest is expressed.

ADMIN. AND OTHER STAFF

  • Answering email.

  • Any back-end responsibilities that are not automated to facilitate what site has to offer -- mostly answering technical questions troubleshooting web-related issues.

  • Keeping all the data controlled, up-to-date, daily reviewed for appropriateness of content.

NOT SURE HOW TO CATALOG THESE [usually because of complexity of what is needed, no one simple answer, or special notes needed]

  • Online 'workshops':  could be either powerpoint or video-type presentation with static page containing references, contacts, links, pages to download and print.  Quite a few LAL  topics can be presented as a whole series of workshops, ebooks, even conferences, programs.  But in this generally nonmember subweb, these topics will be dictated considerably by the interests of the people who visit and what they tell us they want to see.  The possible topics would be endless, but for certain areas they will be directed to the other subwebs.

  • EHE Study Groups [through LLR and LAL]: We might best facilitate this important topic through yahoo groups and meetups or something similar.  Ideally, we will do this in such a way that connects people regularly and directly to wHe.. as integral to all that goes on within these groups, such as for easy access to study materials and to others who share this interest.

  • A BIG THING:  A yearly awards program bringing attention to outstanding services, products, creativity, great solutions to tough challenges in the world/community.
