The NEW Story

Personal myths are not what you think they are.  They are not false beliefs.  They are not the stories you tell yourself to explain your circumstances and behavior.  Your personal mythology is, rather, the vibrant infrastructure that informs your life, whether or not you are aware of it.  Consciously and unconsciously, you live by your mythology.   ~~June Singer [from the original Foreward to The Mythic Path:  Discovering the Guiding Stories of Your Past -- Creating a Vision for Your Future, by Daniel Feinstein and Stanley Krippner.

This is still very much in process, with my apologies!  Thus far I'm only one person doing this and have put this on hold for the moment, while I focus on soliciting for more support with this work.  In the meantime, here are hints of what is to come regarding the New Story and a few ways you can explore this through other pages here.

A collective mythos or story is a most important element of our Human existence, and is felt by many scholars and others to be essentially non-existent at the moment, which is not good.  In the past, this has been examined within the context of individual cultures and subcultures.  Today, I believe there is value in looking into the possibility of a story big enough for a global culture.  So did Rhea A. White.  We both feel there is indeed a New Story breaking on the vast shores of Human consciousness, and that Story is about the impact of the exceptional human experience unfolding with us as individuals, and ultimately on our society and even species and our world.

           White points out that ..

... What we need is a story that will unite science and spirituality, self and world. But first it must occur at the individual level. ... Each of us needs a story that charges our daily lives with meaning and puts us personally in touch with the sacred. There are many books about writing or better yet, living one's own story, one's own myth. But the myths of old contained an element that is missing from most stories told today, and that is a link with the sacred. Exceptional human experiences [and specifically, recording one's EHE-based story] can serve as those links; they are those happenings in our lives that can pull us out of boredom and disconnection into a world of meaning and connection. We have to learn how to honor these experiences and let them into our lives.

This will be a major topic before long on Ahhh-TheLight.  The following pages also have much to say about the power of honoring and sharing our deeply affecting stories of this nature -- our spiritually transformative experiences / exceptional human experiences:

The Power of Story:  Anita Simmons, whose vocation is to listen to and tell life-shifting stories, describes STORY as "the original tool of influence."
